The Lad’s editors had to edit and expand the title, and in the process decided to remove the title “When God gave men the power of choice” to clarify that the Bible speaks of a time when women had the power.
The Lad’s editorial team wanted to make sure they didn’t confuse “God gave men” with the “God made them” of the Old Testament.
They were also confused by a sentence that said “God granted women the choice” that was missing the “He gave men.”
Lad editor Sarah F. Levenson wrote:”When God granted men the ability to choose, He did not make them or make them into them.
He gave them the ability of choice.”
So, the Lad editors decided to add the phrase “God gives men the choice.”
“He gave women a choice,” they wrote.
“Women have a choice.”
The editors did not include a “When” in the title of their article.
Lad Editor Sarah Levensey said the editorial team has been told to “just leave it there,” but it was not clear when the Lad would be publishing an updated version of its original article.
